The Rest of the Block Lives in the Book
Everything else, the setup phase, the rate-based deficit sizing, the diet break protocol, the retest and recalibration windows, and what to do when the scale stops moving.
- Week 0 tracking and Week 1 Test & Lock protocol
- Rate-based deficit sizing by body composition
- Weeks 2 through 7 intensity progression
- Week 8 diet break protocol (both tracks)
- Retest and Calibrated Max recalibration
- Stall protocol and conditioning progression
Before You Start
Why is volume near MEV instead of climbing to MRV?
Recovery capacity drops in a deficit. Chasing hypertrophy PRs under restricted calories is how lifters lose the muscle this block exists to protect. Near-MEV volume with maintained intensity is enough to signal retention. Anything more competes with recovery you don't have.
12 or 16 weeks. Which one?
Starting body composition drives it. Twelve is enough for lifters within striking distance of their target. Sixteen adds a second diet break at Week 14 for deeper cuts or stubborn plateaus. If you're not sure, twelve is the safer default.
The scale is stuck. What do I do?
Order matters. First, verify tracking accuracy for two weeks. Tracking errors are the most common stall reason and the fix is free. If still stuck, add one conditioning session before cutting calories. Preserve dietary flexibility for later. Only after that, reduce calories by 100 to 150. Never 300 or 500. Smallest intervention that restarts progress.
Can I run this back-to-back with another Fat Loss Block?
Not directly. The block ends when recovery markers normalize, not when the calendar says so. Chaining cuts without a Deload Month is how lifters compound fatigue and hormonal suppression they should be resolving. Deload first, then decide.
